Hawley Harvest Hoedown Bluegrass & Folk Concert Returns Oct 1 at the Ritz Theater One of the region’s favorite annual events, the Hawley Harvest Hoedown, is just a month away! “We’re really excited about this year’s Hawley Harvest Hoedown organized by the Downtown Hawley Partnership, and we’re thrilled to have our third annual Hawley Harvest Hoedown Bluegrass & Folk Concert at the Ritz Theater this year,” says Jason Merrill, Producer at Sonusgrey Music Studio & Hawley Harvest Hoedown Committee Member. He continues, “This concert will be the finale to the many festive Saturday events. There was a last minute switch, and it’s exciting. We have three groups performing at this year’s concert, which we are dubbing the ‘Hoedown Showdown.’ We have openers Cavage and Sudigala, who play in the regionally acclaimed Hickory Project and are going to give this concert an opening to be remembered. According to Bluegrass Unlimited, Cavage ‘…sounds like Béla Fleck with an attitude’ and Sudigala takes a fresh approach to Bluegrass, mixing in influences from The Beatles and Gypsy Jazz. Next up, we are featuring The Dishonest Fiddlers, who are an emerging acoustic folk band from Northeastern Pennsylvania. They have the obvious influences of Bluegrass and Jug Band music, but it blends together into a unique, homegrown sound. This group features the down-to-earth and conscientious songwriting of Dave Brown, the virtuoso playing of Josh Kulick and Patrick Casper, and the solid upright bass foundation of Ron Penska. The momentum that was built up to this point will explode into the rest of the night as Mountain Wave takes the stage. This group from the Upper Delaware Valley has spent the summer touring and is ready to rock this theater to its foundations. This group has been described as ‘Country Punka Funka-Fied’ and ‘What you get when you mix Willie Floyd, Pink Nelson, Neil Armstrong and Louie Young.’ This high energy rock/alt. country/jam band will keep you transfixed and tickle all of your musical tastes at the same time. This group features the eclectic guitar style of Timothy Gannon, the controlled chaos of drummer Marc Switko, and the solid tone and bass of Chip Forelli. This show doesn’t simply provide a great evening of entertainment – it also benefits the Downtown Hawley Partnership, which works hard to continue bringing great festivals, local events, and beautification to our small town!” The show will take place on Saturday, Oct 1st at 8:00 pm in the Ritz Theater, located on 512 Keystone Street in Hawley. Doors for the show will open at 7:30pm. “It’s going to be a great weekend and a wonderful concert. We hope to see everyone there!” says Merrill. Seating for this show should be reserved and purchased in advance and tickets range in price from $13 to $17 depending on exact seats. Tickets can be reserved in advance at www.harmonypresents.com or at www.visithawleypa.com. There is also an approximate $2 online ticketing fee.
