Thomas Kennedy Local History F

Kicking off the event from 9 to 11 a.m.  is a talk By Dr. S. Robert Powell of the Carbondale Historical Society: “The Delaware and Hudson Canal Company Gravity Railroad:  Five Configurations.”  Last year, Dr. Powell’s talk on the Pennsylvania Coal Company Gravity Railroad attracted a standing room only crowd to the museum’s Green Room.  In the afternoon, from 12 to 3 p.m., historical organizations, including the Wayne County Historical Society, Wallenpaupack Historical Society, Carbondale Historical Society, Waymart Area Historical Society and many other members of the Thomas Kennedy Local History Roundtable, will set up displays in the Blue Room, offering free handouts, books and other items for sale, and knowledgeable volunteers ready to talk about their areas and societies.  The entire event is free, as is parking.  The Dorflinger Factory Museum is located on Elizabeth Street, just off the blinking light on Route 6 in White Mills.  For more information, call 570-253-5468 or email yannster@ptd.net.
