Explore Brazilian Music at The Cooperage

On Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at The Cooperage in Honesdale there will be two fantastic opportunities to experience the energy and passion of Brazilian music with musical group Minas. First, there will be a free kids music workshop from 3:30pm to 4:30pm, doors open at 3:00pm. We encourage children and their families to come learn all about the rhythm, excitement and sound of Brazilian music. After the workshop please join us at 7:00pm, doors open at 6:30pm, for a performance full of lively, fresh and engaging music sure to be fun for the whole family. Donations will be collected at the door. Don't miss these amazing opportunities to learn something new and listen to some great music!
Orlando Haddad and Patricia King formed Minas in 1978 at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. They proceeded to play all over the eastern United States before moving to Brazil, where they lived, entertained and traveled, absorbing the essence of Brazilian culture. Minas takes Brazilian and American roots to create a sound that is fresh and innovative. With recordings of original music and a collection of over 100 songs, Orlando and Patricia’s compositions have been compared to classics by Cole Porter and Antonio Carlos Jobim. Capturing the essence of great songwriting with memorable melodies, inventive harmonies, and poetic lyrics, the music of Minas is engaging and timeless.
